Long Answer:
Why did the indigo cultivators decide to rebel? How did they show their anger?

Dear Student

Blue rebellion took place in West Bengal. The indigo growing farmers refused to grow Indigo.
1. This rebellion was result of British forcing them to grow Indigo in one part of their land.
2. The powerful and rich planters made the farmers grow Indigo. They also had agents to deal with framers and collect the produce. 3. The Indigo growing farmers were not treated properly by these agents plus, they had to sign agreements in order to accept loans at a very high interest.
4. Commercial farming did not help the farmers to earn high profits.
5. Also British authorities had given the plantation owners the free hand to oppress the farmers to secure the maximum production. Thus, the exploited peasants rose in revolt.
6. They showed their anger by refusing to sow a single seedling of indigo plant.
7.They refused to pay rents to the planters, and attacked indigo factories armed with swords and spear, bows and arrows.
8. Women turned up to fight with pots, pans and kitchen equipment.
