Ma'am/Sir
Please explain me the major events that occur during
1.Leptotene
2.Gygotene
3.Pachytene
4.Diakinesis

Dear Student

1. LEPTOTENE
During leptotene stage, individual chromosomes begin to condense into long and thin threads inside the nucleus.

2.   ZYGOTENE
In zygotene, the homologous chromosomes come near each other, and begin to synapse at several points along the length of chromosomes. Assemblage of chromosomes is done by synaptonemal complex and the homologous chromosomes form pairs called bivalents. These chromosomes begin to get thickened and shortened but there is no actual fusion or exchange of genetic material.

3. PACHYTENE
During pachytene, each chromosome become short and thick and divide into two distinct chromatids. During this stage one can clearly see the four chromatids of homologous chromosomes (two of each one of the homologous chromosomes). So, during pachytene chromosomes appear four stranded.

4. DIAKINESIS
During diakinesis, chiasmata terminalises and chromosomes condense. Mitotic spindle assembles and nucleolus and nuclear envelope disappear.
