Main steps involved in penincillin production

Main steps involved are -
1. Isolation of DNA (in this case from fungus Penicillium )
2. Fragmentation of DNA by restriction endonuclease
3. Ligation of DNA fragment into a vector
4. Transferring the recombinant DNA into the host (like Escherichia coli)
5. Culturing the host cells in a medium at large scale (using bioreactors) to obtain the recombinant protein (penicillin)
6.Downstream processing (separation and purification)
