The king comes across as an arrogant character who does not want to learn from other kingdoms.

He ruins the entire kingdom for making it unique.

He is an idiot who wants abnormal things to happen in his kingdom. He sets the same price for all food items and other commodities.

He is easily flattered by the praise of his foolish ministers.

He is unable to do justice because he punishes the disciple instead of the rich merchant only because he was fit for the dying stake. 

The Guru comes across as a wise person not attracted by cheap foods and commodities in the kingdom.

Guru shows the presence of mind and alertness when he decides to leave the kingdom of fools.

He has the capability of predicting the future when he advises his disciple that staying in this Kingdom would be dangerous.
