Manure is considered better than fertilisers?. Do you agree? Give reason
Dear students,
Manure is considered better than fertilisers, because manure is environment friendly and does not harm the soil.
Advantages of Manure:
Manure is biodegradable and is prepared from organic waste like household waste and animal excreta.
Manure increases the fertility of the soil and makes the soil rich in nutrients. Manure improves the physical texture of the soil as well, manure being eco-friendly helps the micro-organism to remain more active. It increases the water holding capacity of sandy soil. This makes more water available to plants. It prevents the environment pollution, because it recycles the animal excretory waste.
The key nutrients required by crops like potassium and phosphorus, can also be recycled effectively through manure.
It provides a lot of humus to the soil.
Disadvantages of Manure:
Manure is not nutrient specific which can be a drawback in some cases. It is considered to be bulky with less amount of nutrients.
Storage and handling of manure is not much convenient.
Nutrients are absorbed by plants at a slow pace.
Advantages of Fertilizers:
Fertilisers are high in nutrient value and we can find nutrient specific fertilisers also. Fertilisers are concentrated and easilt storable, which makes handling of a fertilisers easy. Increase Fertility of soil faster than manure, so they can quickly provide nutrition to plants and restore soil fertility. Fertilizers do not provide any humus to the soil.
Organic fertilisers are great to use and cause less damage to the crops. But the problem with organic fertilisers is that they are expensive.
Disadvantages of fertilisers :
These are prepared from chemicals, in factories, so have more chances of spoiling the soil and crops if used constantly.
Does not provide humus and fertilisers can cause waterway pollution, chemical burn to crops, increased air pollution, acidification of the soil and mineral depletion of the soil.
Other effects of chemical fertilisers are groundwater contamination and other environmental effects like soil pollution and can be dangerous to human health if not used in less amounts.
Yes i agree, manure is better than fertilisers because they are natural and pocket friendly way in agriculture.
Regards.
