Maratha Kingdom was mostly located in South-western part of India. They were one of the powerful rulers of Indian territory after Mughals.

At its zenith, the Maratha Empire extended from Bangladesh to Pakistan and also bordered Nepal and Afghanistan. In India, it ruled over most of the Deccan region in the south till the borders of Jammu and Kashmir in the north. And from Gujarat in the west to Bengal in the east.

Ujjain, Baroda, Indore and Nagpur were prominent centres of Maratha power while Poona was the capital.
