Marbles of diameter 1.4 cm are dropped into a cylindrical beaker of diameter 7cm containing some water. Find the number of marbles that should be dropped into the beaker so that the water level rises by 5.6cm??

hence radius = 0.7 cm

Volume of 1 marble = 4/3πr3 = 4/3.22/7.7/10.7/10.7/10 = 1.437333333..... cm3

cylinder radius = 3.5 cm

cylinder height given = 5.6 cm

hence cylinder volume increased due to n marbles = πr2h = 3.14 X 3.5 X 3.5 X 5.6 = 215.6 cm3

Hence, Number of marbles required = 215.6 / 1.43733333 = 150 marbles
