GST (Goods and services tax) is an indirect tax which is proposed to be levied on manufacture, sale and consumption of goods as well as services at the national level from April, 2016. It will replace all indirect taxes levied presently on goods and services by central and state governments of India such as octroi, excise duty, VAT (Value Added Tax).
