Zabt was a land revenue system first introduced in India during the Mughal Period. In this system, a survey was carried out of crop yield and prices cultivated for a period of 10 years. On the basis of this data, tax was fixed on each crop. In this, each province was divided into revenue circles with their own rate of revenue and tax for individual crop.
This System was framed by the Mughal Administration so that they could carefully survey their area and keep careful accounts on them.
