It is true that man is materialistic and can do anything for his self-interest. In the poem, the poet depicts this characteristic of man by saying that earth is round and has been created by god as one, whereas man, because of his self-interest, has divided the earth in the name of race, culture and society. With such differences, he is able to achieve his objective of spreading hatred in the world.
