Mention the location and functions of the following:
i. Thyroid gland
ii. Ciliary body
ii. Proximal convoluted tubule
Dear student,
Please find below the answer:
Thyroid gland: The two lobes of the thyroid gland are located on either side of the trachea. Thyroxine is the main hormone produced by the thyroid gland, that increases metabolic rate and thus regulates growth and development of the body.
Ciliary body: It is present in eyes and contains ciliary muscles. These regulate the flow of aqueous humour into Schlemm’s canal, accommodates eye to visualize objects from varying distances and changes the shape of lens.
Proximal convoluted tubule: It is the initial portion of the renal tubule. It is present next to the glomerulus in a nephron. Initial reabsorption occurs inside PCT. Glucose, amino acids, and other useful components are reabsorbed here.
Hope this clears your doubt.
Regards.
