Mention the location and the functions of the following:
i.Myelin sheath
ii. Corpus luteum

Dear student,
Please find below the answer:

Myelin sheath: The insulating sheath that surrounds the core of the nerve fibre or the axon of the neuron is called myelin sheath. It consists of the fat-containing cells called the Schumann cells and helps in the fast transmission of nerve impulse.

Corpus luteum: During the menstrual cycle in human female, the ovulatory phase is followed by the luteal phase during which the remaining parts of the Graffian follicle transform as the Corpus luteum, which is a yellow body due to the presence of lutein protein. The corpus luteum is present inside the ovary and it secretes large amounts of progesterone which is essential for the maintenance of the endometrium.

Hope this clears your doubt.
Regards.
