Mention two incidents from the story Evans Tries an O-level by Colin Dexter that leave a lasting impression on the readers.

Dear student,

Such questions are made for enhancing self-creative skills and should be tried answering on your own. However, here are two sample events that will help you in framing your answer:
  1. The Call: The last call 3 minutes before the exam ended was made to distract Stephen and engage him in a trivial matter so that Evan's plan of escape could finally be executed.
  2. The loopholes: The mistakes made by the prison authorities were many and those, helped Evans escape from the prison. The escape plan began with Evans’ friend impersonating the German teacher who was to come as the invigilator for Evans’ test. The accomplice had left the actual McLeery tied up at his own apartment and came in his place to the prison. The prison authorities did not verify the invigilator’s identity. On the day of the examination, Jackson did not ask Evans to remove his ‘bobble-hat’, which was a great mistake. If Stephens had not shifted from the cell, the escape would not have been possible. Jackson should have searched McLeery thoroughly and checked the rubber ring thoroughly.
The next mistake on their part was to blindly believe that the injured was the invigilatorthough it was actually Evans in disguise. And finally the Governor made the mistake of not taking along enough force for Evans’ arrest to the hotel and by being complacent after the arrest and sending him in a prison van that had Evans’ accomplices.
