11. a. The process observed in the given diagram is called plasmolysis. 
Plasmolysis is the shrinkage of the cell membrane away from the cell wall. It occurs due to the loss of water through osmosis. Plasmolysis occurs in when the cell is placed in a hypertonic solution. 

ii. The kind of cell placed in the medium is plant cell.

iii. The medium in which the cell is placed is hypertonic.

Rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER)	Smooth endoplasmic reticulum (SER)
The endoplasmic reticulum bearing ribosomes on their surface is known as RER.	The endoplasmic reticulum that does not bear ribosomes and appear smooth are known as SER
These are actively involved in the protein synthesis	These are a major site for the synthesis of lipids.
It transports proteins to the different destination like the plasma membrane	It maintains the calcium ion concentration in the cytosol.

 
c. Functions of golgi apparatus are:
