Atom is basic unit of matter. It has electrons, protons and neutrons. Neon, Helium exist as Ne and He respectively i.e. in atomic form.
Two or more atoms come together and bond to form a molecule.
N2 is a molecule where two atoms of nitrogen combine to form this molecule.
An element is a substance which is made of one type of atoms containing same number of electrons and protons. Like hydrogen atom contains 1 electron and 1 proton. So, hydrogen element is made of same atoms which have 1 electron and 1 proton. All the atoms have the same chemical properties.
a compound is a chemical substance which is made up of different elements. Like water, H2 O is made up of atoms of hydrogen and oxygen. In a compound, its constituting elements lose their properties to form new properties.
