metalloflavoprotein mediated pathway of nitrogen metabolism is
a) reductive amination
b) nitrite assimilation
c) nitrate assimilation
the ans given is C ,
can u explain hw? n which is the metalloflavo protein in that pathway...
The metalloflavo protein mediated pathway of nitrogen metabolism is nitrate assimilation. Nitrate in plants is reduced to nitrite by enzyme which is nitrate reductase. Nitrate reductase is metalloflavo protein as it is made up molybdenum which is a metal and FAD which is a flavanoid. As this enzyme mediate nitrate assimilation, this pathway is also referred as metalloflavo protein medaited pathway.
