Metals are lustrous but the iron rod used in construction does not shine. Why?

Most of metals are lustrous, not all. Pure iron is also shiny and lustrous, but its reaction with moisture may develop corrosive layer which can makes it look dull in appearance. Or the iron rod used in construction is not pure iron it may contain other metals too which changes its appearance.

see....all the metals need not shine all the time. The reason iron is not lustrous as there is mosture acting on it which then eventually turns into rusted iron

DUE TO THE REACTION ON THE ROD OF MOISTURE AND AIR MAKE IT RUSTED THIS IS THE REASON WHY METAL ROD USED IN CONSTRUCTON IS NON-LUSTROUS
