modern agriculture boon or bane?

Modern agriculture is largely a boon because without modern agriculture, the earth could not sustain a human population of 7.5 billion. Without modern agriculture, there would have been mass starvation on earth. It is only because modern agriculture uses high yielding seeds, fertilizers and irrigation that humanity has been able to survive. There are certain problems associated with modern agriculture like environmental pollution caused by fertilizers and pesticides, and the depletion of the water table caused by irrigation. But the benefits of modern agriculture far outweigh the problems.
