Most of the electricity carrying wires along the road do not have a plastic covering like wires used at home. But why is there no substantial loss of electrical energy?

Dear student, As Air is a bad conductor of electricity. Most of the electricity carrying wires near highways do not have a plastic covering like the wires used at homes.Hence there is no substantial loss of energy during the flow of electricity in the overhead electric wires on the road and at homes, the plastic covering is used as insulator.Regards

Dear Student,

Most of the electricity carrying wires near highways do not have a plastic covering like the wires used at homes because air is a bad conductor of electricity.
But there is no substantial loss of energy because air is a bad conductor of electricity air particles also contains electrons but in less amount therefore it acts as an insulator.
