Multiple farming nd modern farming

Dear Student

In multiple farming, farmers grow atleast two main crops and any other crop as the third crop.

Modern farming means farming using modern techniques and technology.

Modern farming methods require the farmers to set up tube wells for irrigation, and make use of HYV seeds, chemical fertilizers and pesticides in farming, farm machinery like tractors and threshers, which make ploughing and harvesting faster. At present some of the modern methods of farming include:

  • organic farming
  • precision farming
  • nutrient film technique

Modern farming method is also known as green revolution because it made possible for the framers to use high yielding variety of seeds in order to grow wheat and rice. It produced increased number of grains in a single plant and thus, it was possible to produce large amount of grains as compared to the traditional farming methods. The farmers of Punjab, Haryana and Western Uttar Pradesh initiated this method first in India. This led to the greater amounts of surplus grains to sell in the markets.
