2)Kshatriyas-They were warriors and faught wars.

3)Vaishyas-They were involved in trade and agriculture.

4)Shudras-They had to serve other three groups.

4. Shudras- They had to serve other three groups and did menial jobs.

THE FOUR VARNAS ARE1] Brahmins -these are -

 -the most highily respected varna,.these perform sacrifices for kings and traders.

2] KYHATRIYAS -these have duties to protect the people.

3] Vaishayas -these are traders ,.these have to collect taxes from the workers.

4]Shudras -these are workers.they have to pay taes on their land.

Ans =The priests divided people into 4 groups called varnas .According to them all of them had to do a set of functions .
1. first were the priests and they were expected to study ( and teach ) the vedas , perform sacrifices and recieve gifts .
2. second were the khshatriyas or the warriors . they had to fight in battles and defend their country from the attacks of other kings .
3. third were the vaishayas or merchants and traders . both the vaishayas and the khatriyas were allowed to perform sacrifices and rituals .
4.Forth were the shudras who were not allowed to perform rituals 
mainly the women ,dasas and other low cast people were not allowed to perform any rituals or even study the vedas .Thank you please vote experts and friends
