The headwaters of Ganga called the bagirathi is fed by gangotri glaciers and joined by alaknanda at dvyaprayag in uttarakhand.

Alaknanda consist of (Vishnuganga+Dhauliganag) which meet at vishnuprayag (Source -Satopant Glacier) ,then Alaknanda meets Nandakini at Nandprayag ,Pindar at Karanprayag, Mandakini or KaliGanga at Rudraprayag, the Alaknanda meets Bhagirati at Devaprayag , there after it termed as Ganga.
