Neurons have basically four main parts:-

1. Cell body- It is also known as soma. It is the part of the neuron that contains the nucleus. It completes the metabolic activities that are needed to keep the cell alive.
2.  Dendrites- These are the branching extensions of the cell body of neurons. It conducts impulses to the cell body.
3. Axon- These are the long fibers that extend from the cell body. It conducts impulses away from the cell body.
4. Nerve endings-  This is the end part of the axon where the impulse is converted into neurotransmitters.
