The epithelial tissue in animals and epidermis in plants are similar in the functions in the sense that both of them provide protection from the external environment to the animals and plants respectively.
In animals transportation of blood, nutrients etc occurs via heart similarly transportation of food, water occurs via xylem and phloem in plants.
