i) when trees are planted, it reduces CO2 . CO2 causes ocean acidity which harm the coral reefs and other living organisms in the water.

ii) when fertilizers are used in soil,it gets washed when it rains and gets mixed with water. Lichens present in water consume these and grow rapidly. When they grow, they take up the oxygen present in the water. In lack of oxygen, living organisms are not able to live. So, by resisting the use of fertilizers, water pollution can be prevented.
