name two exotic species

An exotic species is a non-native plant or animal deliberately or accidentally introduced into a new habitat. Such species include plants, fishes, algae, mollusks, crustaceans, and bacteria. Such species that are able to reproduce and survive outside of the habitats where they evolved are also referred to as alien, introduced, invasive, non-native, or non-indigenous.

ANS:  An exotic species is a non-native plant or animal deliberately or accidentally introduced into a new habitat. A leading cause of biodiversity loss in many aquatic ecosystems is the introduction of exotic species.  Such species include plants, fishes, algae, mollusks, crustaceans, and bacteria. Such species that are able to reproduce and survive outside of the habitats where they evolved are also referred to as alien, introduced, invasive, non-native, or non-indigenous.

There are many ways that exotic species are introduced into freshwater areas including the release of pet fish or foreign species brought in for entertainment in public or commercial aquariums or for education. In addition, the demand for bait fish, the captive rearing of fish and the unintentional transfer of species by commercial ships through ship ballast water.

An introduced, neozoon, alien, exotic, non-indigenous, or non-native species, or simply an introduction, is a species living outside its native distributional range, which has arrived there by human activity, either deliberate or accidental. Some introduced species are damaging to the ecosystem they are introduced into, others have no negative effect and can, in fact, be beneficial both to humans-as an alternative to pesticides in agriculture for example-and to Ecosystems-as in New Zealand where introduced species of flora from North America have been shown to increase Biodiversity and Bioproductivity. A list of introduced species is given in a separate article. Introduced species and their effects on natural environments is a controversial subject and one that has gained much scrutiny by scientists, governments, farmers and others.

OR

As opposed to native species, which are indigenous and found naturally in an environment, animals and plant species introduced from other countries and which are not otherwise found locally are termed exotic. These introduced or exotic species can adversely affect the ecosystem. In India, large variety of exotic animal and plant species have been introduced from other parts of the world through the ages. Some exotic plants have turned into weeds, multiplying fast and causing harm to the ecosystem, e.g. water hyacinth and lantana.

OR

An exotic species is any species intentionally or accidentally transported and released by man into an environment outside its present range. These plant and animal species are considered to be among the most severe agents of habitat alteration and degradation, and they are a major cause of the continuing loss of biological diversity throughout the world.

Not all aquatic species that are introduced into new environments are successful; in fact, ecologists predict that most will fail and those that manage to survive will fail to establish reproducing colonies. An ecosystem's resistance to exotic species depends on competition between them and native species for food and habitat. The greater the diversity in an ecosystem, the more competitors an exotic species will encounter, thereby decreasing its chances of becoming established.

Exotic species, also called non-indigenous, or invasive species, are organisms that have moved beyond their natural geographical range of habitat. They  represent all phyla, from microorganisms to various plants and animals, both terrestrial and aquatic.

eg:

plant: sweet clover

bird: silver pheasant.

hope it helps!!

cheers!!!

thumbs up plzzz
