Nandini went to the bank with a bearer cheque .The cashier he made a mistake while cashing the cheque.He gave Nandini as many rupees as there were paise on the cheque and as many paise as there were rupees.Nandini did not count the money there but quickly left the bank.On the way home she spent 50 paise.On reaching home she found that she had got three times as much money as was on the cheque.How much money had her uncle given her?

Hi,
he wants to withdraw x rupee and y paise
but he obtained y rupee and x paise after spending 50 paise remaining amount = y rupee and (x-50) paise
it is given that y rupee (x-50) paise = 3(x rupee y paise)
So on comparison y = 3x
and 3y = x-50
9x= x-50
x = -50/8
but here x is coming out to be negative
So an other case is also possible
y rupee (x-50) paise = 3(x rupee y paise)
so y rupee (x-50) paise = 3(x rupee) 3(y paise)
or y rupee (x-50) paise = (3x+1) rupee (3y-100) paise
y =3x+1, x-50 = 3y-100

So taking second equation,
x-50 = 9x+3-100
8x = 47
x = 47/8
find x for your own practise.
