Napthalene (C10H8) is sublime in nature. The napthalene balls have a tendency to absorb heat from the surroundings without changing into liquid state , they transform into gaseoes state because normal temperature and pressure does allow them to exist in the liquid state. So napthalene balls change into gas eventually and reduces in size and finally it disappears without leaving any residue because entire constituent of napthalene undergoes sublimation
