Exercise 6.2

4th problem y+8>=2x

I got solution region but in the answer it is shaded upto -2 in x-axis and upto 3 in y-axis.Can I shade it to x-axis upto -1 and if Ishade x-axis upto -1,upto what area in the y-axis?

It is not mandatory that shaded area is upto -2 on x-axis and -3 on y-axis. It is just the representation of the shaded area and it can also be drawn to other negative values of x.

Here, given equation is: y + 8 ≥ 2x.

On putting (0,0) in it , we get

0 + 8 ≥ 2(0)

or 8 ≥ 0, which is true.

So, the solution of said equation is towards the origin and will involve all the points except the points on the right side of the line.
