need a essay on topic "health is a treasure with no shortcuts"

There is no shortcut to good health, which is a treasure to be preserved, according to C. Sylendra Babu, Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore.

One must work hard to earn it and preserve the same, he said at the inauguration of the K.T. Venkatarama Reddy Endowment in the city on Saturday.

Unfortunately, most policemen did not maintain their health, he said.

Of the 3,000 policemen ordered to undergo medical check up, around 40 per cent were found to be diabetic. And this should hold good for the force across the State.

He had been asking the constabulary and officers to exercise regularly because sugar was the culprit for poor health. Mr. Babu said people also entertained superstitious belief for regaining good health and wanted shortcuts for the same.

Both were not possible, as health could be maintained only through hard work.

He also cautioned that superstitious belief and shortcuts could in fact turn counterproductive.

He also lamented about parents not allowing children to play.

That 's a very bad thing that can be done to children, he said and added that it was misconception that play affected studies.

None of the failures in the recent board examinations were sportspersons.

In his speech after accepting the endowment award, V. Mohan, Chairman and Diabetologist, Dr. Mohan 's Diabetes Specialities Centre, Chennai, thanked the KTVR management for choosing him. He gave away prizes to four students who won the first three prize in the competition organised to create awareness on diabetes.
