Q.17. (a) Find the perimeter and area of the figure (i) given below in which all corners are right angles.




Perimeter of ABCDEF = AB+BC+CD+EF+FA=2 + 4 + 4 + 1.5 + 6 + 5.5=23 m

Extend BC to G that intersects EF at G.Now, area of ABGF = AB×BG = 2 ×5.5 = 11 m2Now, area of CDEG = CD×DE = 4 × 1.5 = 6 m2So, area of the given figure =area of ABGF +  area of CDEG=11 + 6 = 17 m2

​Perimeter : 3m+ 5m+8m+5m+2m+7m+13m+7m = 50m

​For area of figure (iii) split into four parts 
5*2=10cm + 3*2=6cm + 5*2=10cm +12*2 =24cm = 50cm​2

Perimeter = 12+7+2+5+4+3+2+3+4+5+2+7 = 56cm
