Non living things also grow like mountains and sand mounds so should growth be considered a defining property of living organisms..??

Yes, It would not be wrong to say that non living things also tend to grow in certain cases. But, the growth is not a defining characteristic of non living things as all non - living things do not grow. n the contrary, all living things tend to grow in some way or the other. Growth is a part of survival for living beings. Growth will be regarded as a defining property of all non-living things if and only if all the non living tend to grow which is not the case.
