Vitamins are considered essential nutrients. They are actually micronutrients which means that the body requires small quantities of vitamins but they are absolutely necessary and essential. Vitamin deficiency can lead to many diseases, for example, scurvy due to lack of Vitamin C. Different Vitamins are important in different capacities in our body. 
​​​​​​Vitamin D for example is necessary for Calcium absorption.
The exact amount of Vitamin s required by the body depends on different Vitamins, their functions, and also body to body.
