O2 is more water soluble than N2.  Which has higher value of Kh?

Dear Student,

Please find below the solution to the asked query:

The solubility of gas is directly associated to its mole fraction in aqueous solution, which in turn can be estimated by applying the Henry's Law, which says that "the partial pressure of the gas in vapour phase (p) is proportional to the mole fraction of the gas (x) in the solution" p = KH x ". Different gases has different values of KH (Henry's constant), suggesting it depends on the nature of the gas. Higher is the value of KH lower is its solubility in the aqueous medium. It is higher for N2 and lower for O2, Hence, solubility for N2 is lower than O2.
