On Pg. 166 of tthe Science NCERT textbook of IX std., there is a question 4 which says " a person... Successive compressions from the source?" I referred to your solutions. But can you please elaborate on the mathematics of it? I mean, how did 1/500 become 0.002 s? Please tell quickly, out exams are due and I will decide whether to continue Meritnation nextt year as well or not. How did you get 1/500 as 0.002 s? What did u multiply 1/500 with to get. 0.002 s? Thank you.

multiply 2 with both the numerator and the denominator

you will get 2/1000 = 0.002

Hey... Easy..

See, use the normal division method.

Since 1 is not divisible by 500, insert a 0 in the quotient and add a decimal point.

So now you can add one 0 to 1. This will make it 10.

Again, since 10 is not divisible by 500, insert a 0 in the quotient after the decimal point.

Now add one 0 to 10(earlier 1). This will make it 100.

Again, since 100 is not divisible by 500, add 0 in the quotient and a 0 to 100(earlier 10). This will make it 1000.

Now, 500 x 2= 1000.

So, insert 2 in the quotient.

And like this, you get 1/500 = 0.02

Hope u r ok now.. If u r not clear, be sure to tell me. I will tell u again.

ALL THE BEST FOR YOUR EXAMS!!!

actually if you read the lesson you will know that

v(nu)=1/t

where v=frequency and t is time period

therefore t=1/v

t=1/500

and 1/500 is 0.002 there is nothing to multiply anyting to the number
