One day in the early hours of the morning a thief entered your house. All the members of the family were asleep except you. You were awake for studies. The thief ran away when you raised an alarm. Write description of the thief and how he ran away from the house.

Dear student,

THE THIEF ADVENTURE!

Some instances in our life, though they appear scary while we are in them, appear hilarious in hindsight. One such event occurred with me two years ago.

I was up for my exam preparations till late at night. Everyone else in the house was asleep. Around five a.m. I was having a sip of the water. Suddenly I heard a soft click and a slight creek of the opening of a door. I sat still to reconfirm if I had heard all right, and sure enough, the stairs too creaked just enough for me to pick the sound. Something was not right!

I tip-toed towards the door of my room and peeped cautiously. I could make out the silhouette of a man in the dark climbing the stairs to the first floor, where my room was situated. As he climbed further, the moonlight fell on him and I could now see him properly. He was a young, burly man, maybe in his mid twenties, with a cap on his head and goggles even at this time of the night, perhaps to hide his face as much as possible. He wore a tee-shirt and jeans, in which I could see the knuckle of a knife jutting out from the pocket. He surely was a thief, or a murderer. I felt afraid at this.

In panic, I started shouting and calling for my family members. As lights started turning on in the other bedrooms in the house, I saw the thief stop short. He looked around for a moment, and then went down the stairs quickly. He dashed out from the front door, and was gone in no time. Though my father ran after him, shouting himself, the thief was very quick in getting away from the situation.

Some neighbours came to our house after that, having been woken by mine and my father's shouts. Police was called and finger prints were picked from the door and the stairs. I felt especially important while being asked to witness and answer the queries of the police-person, but secretly also felt a little worried knowing the thief could come back again. Yet my fear was ill founded and he never made an appearance again!

My father had extra latches put on all doors and windows, and an iron door came up at the entrance, as some thief alarms too. I studied in my parents' room for the rest of the year and slept with my elder brother, a recommendation of my mother!

We did laugh about the situation as time went by, and even now if the memories come back I can't stop smiling at the way first I and then my father shouted and scared the thief away.
