Sir,

Permit me to draw the attention of the authorities through the columns of your esteemed paper to the increasing number of road accidents in Delhi.

Road accidents have been on the increase in the city in spite of the precaution of the traffic authorities. Many young and innocent persons lose their lives every day.

These road accidents occur due to the lack of civic sense in the people and their ignorance of road and traffic signals. The pedestrians are overrun because they try to cross the roads at places of their choice. The number of accidents of people riding scooters is very high because most of the young men are beginners and do not know how to ride a scooter.

Another causes of the fatal accidents is rash driving. The truck drivers are mostly dead drunk and, therefore, care not a fig for traffic rules. They drive their trucks at a high speed even through congested localities, and crush down whoever comes in the way.

It is high time that authorities took a serious view of the lapses on the part of the drivers. This can be done only by levying heavy fines and the forfeiture of their licenses. Licenses, too, should be checked frequently.

I shall be grateful if you kindly give publicity to the matter so that the traffic authorities wake up to the need of security of the people and take strong measures against the erring drivers.

Sub:Concern regarding a large number of accidents in metropolitan cities 
Sir
As a concerned citizen, I would like to reflect a few lines about the reasons of rising accidents in our metropolitan cities to be published through the columns of your revered newspaper. 

That a large number of accidents taking place everyday in the metropolitan cities has become a matter of great concern. There are a number of reasons for this rise in number of accidents. The main reason is that most drivers are quite stressed while driving and also get impatient and irritated due to poor road conditions and drive recklessly and rashly. People also don't follow the traffic rules nor do they adhere speed limits thus leading to accidents. Mobile phones and loud music acts as distractions. People are always in a hurry to reach their destination and as a result drive most recklessly. There is also an unfortunate increase in the number of drunken driving mishaps. 
To solve this problem the authorities need to take very
strict action and impose very heavy fines on traffic rule
defaulters. Under age drivers and drunken drivers should be dealt with most severely and their licenses should be impounded immediately. Number of traffic policemen and check posts should be increased to act as deterrents. Traffic rules and regulations should be made mandatory. 

Therefore, I request you to edit the above mentioned lines as an important issue in your newspaper to draw the sincere
attention of the public and government to the fact.
