Out of C & CO , which is a better reducing agent far FeO?

  1. In the lower part of blast furnace ?
  2. In the upper part of blast furnace ?

 Explain with reason ?

For FeO

Lower part has higher temperature, so C is better reducing agent

Upper part has lower temperature, so CO is better reducing agent

This is explained on the basis of Ellingham diagram
