Out of the following options which one does not produce a sound wave? Also give the reason...

A A bell ringing under water.
B An explosion in outer space.
C A gun fired in a room with no echoes.
D A hammer hitting a block of rubber.

Dear Student,

An explosion in outer space does not produce any sound wave because sound is actually vibrations in the air. In empty space, there is no air so you cannot hear it but you can see it because light does not need air to travel.

In all the four situations, sound waves are produced but can't propagate in space(i.e. vacuum)as there are no material mediums (or are very far away from each other). So,sound waves are produced in space too however they can't propagate there.
