Papaver and michalia both are multi- carpiliary. Why are they classified separetly?

Dear Student,

Papaver and Michelia are classified separately because of the following reasons:
  • In Papaver there is syncarpous pistil (multiple fused carpels) and apocarpous gynoecium (free multiple carpels) in Michelia.
  • Papaver fruit is single multi-seeded and Michelia fruit occurs in pairs, two or more in number which dehisces by single suture.

Regards.
