.Pen down your perception of Miss Mason as a teacher, in the complete story, The Hundred
Dresse

Dear student,

Miss Mason comes across as a very loving and understanding teacher. The statement can be justified by the fact that Wanda in her letter to her wrote that she missed her and that she is better than the teachers at her new school. Miss Mason did not scold or punish her students when she received a letter from Wanda's father instead she tried to talk to them to help them realise their mistake.

Miss Mason is the teacher of the story ‘The Hundred Dresses’ where the author tries to portray the anguish and struggles of immigrants through the character of a Polish immigrant girl called Wanda.

Wanda is confronted with a very cruel world when she goes to school. Her school mates make fun of her and treat her very badly. However, through the character of her teacher Miss Masonthe author shows the brighter side of human nature. Miss Mason is not heartless and cruel.

She understands Wanda’s condition. She is empathetic towards her. She treats her gently and patiently. She is compassionate and wise. She is one of those teachers who students love and respect. She is an epitome of humanity and kindness.
