given , length of the box (l) = 1.5 m
breadth of the box(b) = 1 m
height of the box(h) = 1 m
Sheet metal required = area of the four walls + area of the base [ as the box is open from the top ]
Area of four walls = 2(bh+hl)
So, area of four walls = 2( 1*1 + 1*1.5) = 2( 1 + 1.5 ) = 2( 2.5) = 5 m2
area of base = lb [ as base is rectangular ]
= 1.5*1 = 1.5 m
Area of metal sheet required = 5 + 1.5 = 6.5 m2
now inside and outside area of the metal sheet is to be painted at the rate of 150 Rs per sqm
So, the total surface area = Inner surface area + outer surface area
total surface area = 6.5 + 6.5 = 13 m2
total cost of painting = 150* 13 = 1950 Rs
