Q.6. A crude sample of iodine can be purified by
(a) Distillation (b) Crystallization (c) Sublimation (d) Centrifugation

Dear Student,

As in the common practice to purify the iodine from its crude is the sublimation method.
As iodine is sublimable and converted into vapour directly from the solid on slight heating, and these vapours are collected further.

Nowadays iodine is not directly sublime from its crude as direct sublimation will also get the impurity of volatile compound mixed with iodine. Hence to overcome this, hydrolysis of organic iodide is done, and iodine salt is then collected as the precipitate after this the crude iodine salt is then vapourized to collect the pure iodine.

So, the correct option is (c).

Regards.
