Solution:

i. Synthetic fibers such as nylon, polyester, etc. are water-repelling i.e. they do not absorb water easily. On the other hand, natural fibres such as cotton, wool can absorb water as they are water-loving fibres. 

ii. Decreasing order of water absorption capabilities of the given fibres is as follows:
Cotton> Jute> Wool> Nylon> Polyester
