Dear student,
metallurgical process of extraction of metal can be broadly classified in to three steps:
1)concentration of ore to remove unwanted impurities like gangue particle
2)Reduction process to extract metal from metal oxides,sulphides,halides etc
3)purification or refinement of the metal (distillation for low boiling metal like zinc, poling, liquation etc)
froath floatation is a concentration process to remove gangue usually from sulphide ore.hence it is not a refinement process.
