Please answer question 2

Dear Student,
Bismillah Khan was extremely passionate about his country, India. This was evident from the musical instrument that he played, i.e. the Shehnai. He played the Shehnai with immense love and devotion. When India gained Independence in 1947, he became the first Indian to greet the nation with his shehnai. He poured his heart out into Raag Kafi from the Red Fort to an audience which included Mahatma Gandhi and PanditJawaharlal Nehru. Khan Saab, as he was fondly called, had travelled all over the world, but Benaras and Dumraon remain his favourite towns in the world. Whenever he is in a foreign country, he longs for Hindustan, the land that gave him his music.

When he was conferred with the Bharat Ratna in 2001, with immense happiness he had said that, “Teach your children music, this is Hindustan’s richest tradition; even the West is now coming to learn our music”. Bismillah Khan’s life is a perfect blend of his love for music and his fondness towards his country. He was also presented with the Bharat Ratna award.
