(ii) perpendicular to principal axis. What will be the focal length of each half?

If the lens is cut along the principal axis then there will be no change in the focal length of the lens. But if it is cut perpendicular to the principal axis, first focal length does not change.The second focal length becomes infinite because one of the sides becomes a plane surface
