Please answer the following question with explanation?????????

Dear student,

Option A is correct because :
  • Southwest monsoon season stays for a duration of four months (June,July, August and September) while covering India.
  • Whereas retreating monsoon stays for a duration of two months.
Option D is correct because :
  • The depressions play a significant role in the distribution of southwest monsoon
  • rainfall over the Indian subcontinent. The tracks of these depressions are the areas of highest rainfall in India. The frequency at which these depressions visit India, their direction and intensity, all go a long way in determining the rainfall pattern during the southwest monsoon period.
  •
  • A high pressure starts developing in Northern plains, south of Himalayas due to inflow of different air masses and jet streams from cold Central and Western Asian countries. On the other hand, a low pressure starts developing in the southern Hemisphere(north Australia) because sun is overhead on tropic of Capricorn. This reverses the direction of monsoon winds over India and cause retreating monsoons.
