Please answer the question given below.

Dear Student,

(i) Parts 1 to 7 are labelled as follows:
  1. Epidermis
  2. Dermis
  3. Sweat gland
  4. Hair follicle
  5. Nerve
  6. Hair
  7. Pore (from where sweat comes out)
(ii) Parts to be defined:
  • Part 2 is labelled as the dermis, under the outer epidermis. Dermis is a fibrous layer stabilised by the cushion-like subcutaneous layer which further strengthens and stabilise the epidermal structure. It also maintains the turgidity of the skin because it has the property to hold water.
  • Part 3 is labelled as sweat gland. It secretes sweat to maintain the body temperature because as soon as the sweat will evaporate it will give the cooling effect.
  • Part 4 is labelled as hair follicle, from which the hair originates. Here, cells divide and grow to form a full hair out of the skin.
(iii) Brown pigment (melanin) is present in the epidermis.
