please answer the second in the picture

Dear student, Herbivores consume grass which contains cellulose and whose digestion requires the need of methanogens in the gut of animals where the cellulose is broken into simpler sugars. This methanogen is absent in the stomach of humans and hence humans cannot digest grass. That is why the quantity of food eaten by herbivores is related to the structure of their digestive system. Thanks and regards

Herbivores only consume plant material which is very difficult to digest. No vertebrates make an enzyme capable of breaking down cellulose, the tough sugar that makes up plant cell walls which is unfortunate as its digestion yields glucose. As the diet includes large amounts of fibre the digestive tract of herbivores is comparatively much longer than carnivores, due to fibre being much more difficult to digest.
